Privacy Policy
Effective August 30, 2026
Dilla is a personal recipe vault: you save recipes from social media, websites, and photos, and cook from them. This policy explains what Dilla stores and why, in plain language. The short version: your data exists to run your recipe library, it is never sold, and there are no ads and no cross-app tracking.
What Dilla stores
- Your account — you can use Dilla without telling us anything about yourself: tapping “Start cooking” creates an account identified only by a random ID, with no email and no password. Add an email later and we store it along with a securely hashed password, so your library survives a new phone and a subscription can be restored.
- Your content — the recipes you save (including their source links and cover images), your grocery list, meal plan, categories, ratings, and cook counts.
- Device information — a push-notification token for each device you use (so Dilla can tell you when an import finishes) and a per-device import key (so recipes you share from other apps land in your library). Both are deleted when you sign out on that device.
- Usage counts — how many recipes you import each month, used only to enforce your plan's monthly limit.
How importing works
When you share a link, screenshot, or photo to Dilla, that content is sent to our server and processed by AI services solely to extract the recipe: Anthropic (reading text and images), and for video recipes, Apify (retrieving the public post) and Groq (transcribing the audio). The extracted recipe is saved to your library; shared screenshots and photos are processed for extraction and are not kept as images. Recipe cover images are copied to our storage so they keep working if the original moves.
Who processes data on Dilla's behalf
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage (where your account and library live)
- Netlify — hosting and the import service
- Anthropic, Groq, Apify — recipe extraction, as described above
- Apple — push-notification delivery
These providers process data only to provide their service to Dilla.
What Dilla doesn't do
- No selling or renting of your data — to anyone, ever
- No advertising and no ad networks
- No tracking you across other apps or websites
- No reading anything from your social accounts — Dilla only sees the specific posts you choose to share to it
Deleting your data
Settings → Delete account permanently erases your account and everything in it — recipes, images, grocery list, meal plan, device tokens, and usage history — immediately and irreversibly. No email required, no waiting period.
